Carrara Marble Master Bath- Greenville, SC

This is a presentation of a Carrara Marble tile installation remodel service I performed in a 1940's era home in the Greenville SC area. The project finish schedule includes Honed Carrara 12x12, 1x12, 3x6 and 2x2 Carrara Basket Weave Mosaic.

I genuinely like the color continuity in this  bathroom presentation.  The diverse range of dimensions, spectrum of tones available in the single Carrara Marble finish ensures a timeless beauty that is arguably unequaled.

Per the spec sheet, I installed this 12x12 Carrara Master Bath floor in the pattern seen here. This is what's known as a "broken joint", "staggered joint" or "brick joint" pattern. It's not my favorite tile pattern when used with a square tile. I like it a lot when it's used with a rectangular shapes, though.

This crooked photo is of a gorgeous 3x6 subway Carrara Marble tile back-splash that features a basket weave pattern listello that's created with the same Carrara Marble material. I really like the look of this ensemble. Equilibrium, continuity... the tile installer creed- or should be.

In this photo, the grout has been applied, washed, is setting up and awaiting the final cleaning. Considering all the work that goes into these remodeling projects, it's funny that the grouting process seems to be the part which impresses people the most. I suppose that's due to this being the first "finished" look that's available since the remodel start date.

This photo shows the Master Bath tub deck back-splash finish detail. It needs a good cleaning and grout, but the time consuming, tedious installation portion is finished. This isn't one of those "Finished in One Day" shower installations.

The Master Bath tub deck splash finish detail. Seen here, grouted and complete. Photos just can't possibly capture the detail of the subtle tones and beauty of this bathroom. If it sounds like I'm breaking my arm patting myself on the back, I'm not. All accolades go to the home owner and bathroom designer for having selected a natural stone tile that's simply gorgeous. Sure, I installed this marble tile. But would it be as impressive in say a purple tile?

This is the finished Master Bath shower entrance. Polished marble edge finishes, full jamb and header wrap, are all price points and longevity considerations. Speaking of how much this costs; Carrara is actually affordable compared to most 12x12 natural stones. Be careful when buying. I've seen similar looking material from my local big box store that doesn't compare to this stone.

The Master Bath shower walls, finished in Honed Carrara 12x12 marble. It's installed in what is known as a "broken joint" pattern.

As mentioned above, photographs simply do not do this remodel project justice. In as much as I enjoy photographing these creations, I find I'm not very good at it and have great appreciation for those that are. This is one of my better photographs of this shower floor. Yet the photo is still out of square, center and focus. I'm a much better tile installer than photographer.

To me, this view of the shower floor pitch is one of the more interesting photographs of this set. It's one of those things that few tiles setters are willing to spend the time to make perfect, but is extremely important to be built and installed correctly.

This is the finished Master Bath ceiling. The finish material is a 3x6 Honed Carrara Marble tile, installed in what is known as a "broken joint" or "brick joint" or "subway tile" pattern. The hole you see here is the recessed ceiling light fixture.

This photo shows the shower floor and curb detail. It's easy to underestimate the amount of time that's necessary to complete this type of finish professionally.

I hope you have enjoyed this presentation. Thank you for looking.
